I would bet dollars to donuts that no mod generates more ultimately unsolved problem threads on this forum than the ♥♥♥. I have the best i7 money could buy two years ago, and dual 980 TIs, and I have to lower quality for the more complex mods, if I want to run them at my preferred battle size (1200)Īs for the ♥♥♥, stay away from it. None can do both at once, unless you have a great PC. There are other great mods besides the three above, which balance complexity and visual quality. Somewhat similar is Phantasy Calradia with battlefield magic, different races, great maps, etc. On the other end of the scale, you have Suvarnabhumi Mahayuth which has elephants, hand cannons, firecracker arrows, grenades, great battlefield tactics, wonderfully varied troops and equipment BUT forces you to lower quality if you want to experience battles with more than 300 men. On one end of the scale, you have Gekokujo, which has great large maps, good battlefield AI, and can run tons of troops BUT reuses its simple textures a lot and has very similar troops. There are really no mods which are both shock full of cool troops, items and mechanics, and are able to run 1000 men at 60fps on even good PCs. On the same PC, the frame rate starts falling in the ♥♥♥ at 200-300, because even individual soldiers of the same unit type have widely different equipment, and because textures are unoptimized. I have ran Gekokujo with 1200 men on screen and Viking Conquest with 900, with all bells and whistles. The number of show fans shilling for the broken mess that is the ♥♥♥ never ceases to amaze me. Lags horrendously on and off the strategy map because of broken and untuned campaign AI. Having extra varied and high resolution textures so that even good video cards run out of VRAM and slow down with barely 300 men on screen.Ĥ. Having broken battles, due to the the author not having tuned the battlefield AI for the crazy changes he has done to equipment and especially damage types.ģ.
